Our sustainability journey

We created Lagódie with sustainability at the forefront of our minds. Our vision for a healthy planet, bodies and minds makes us strive to thread lighter on our planet and improve the quality of life for us and our loved ones.

Sourcing natural and local materials reduces distances and CO2 emissions. Since flax thrives best in European climate, we have a long history of producing the highest quality of fibers and linen fabric. All our linen is sourced locally in Europe from Oeko-Tex certified mills - free of harmful chemicals and synthetics.

Our sustainable design process and careful execution made by hand make our creations high quality and long lasting.

Sustainable for the planet

How sustainable is linen?

Linen material is inherently sustainable.
Flax plant is extremely durable, a fast growing and renewable source. It grows even in poor-quality soil, requires little water and fertilizer (much, much less than cotton) and next to no pesticides. While producing linen, the whole flax plant is used, leaving no waste. Linen is biodegradable and easy to recycle.

All our products are designed and handmade in Slovenia. It is important and very easy for us to stand behind ethically made, sustainable and high quality products. Local production ensures we avoid unnecessary production, surplus and extra shipping between producers. All our packages are shipped from Slovenia in zero plastic packaging.

Sustainable for our bodies

We fell in love with linen for all of its natural benefits:

  • It’s one of the materials our bodies receive extremely well - as an example, linen threads have a history of surgical use for sutures, sowing wounds,

  • Linen is moisture wicking - it breathes and dries very quickly. It’s thermoregulating properties cool in the summer and warm in the winter,

  • Hypoallergenic and antibacterial properties make the material perfect for sensitive skin and airways. Among other things, they reduce the risk of fungal diseases, accelerate the healing process of wounds and neutralize the smell of sweat,

  • The regenerative power comes from the light massage effect small nodules and dense, hard linen fibers have on our skin - it improves blood microcirculation and contributes to improved texture of skin.
